Barn Obsession

This barn is about three miles up the street from where we live. I vividly remember when this property was up for sale...

I don't know why, but I have always loved old fashioned barns. Growing up, I dreamed of living on a farm with a great big barn and I would sketch out the plans for what my barn would look like.

I love to see barns being used for what they were built for. This barn is still part of a farm.

When I was about 13 years old, I volunteered at an historical farm that replicated life from the early 1900's. They had a large, beautiful barn. I would go in there and climb to the top of the haystack and then swing off on the giant rope swing they had. I loved the smell of the hay mixed in with the smell from the giant Belgian workhorses.

Those memories are etched in my mind and now I have my simple little farm with a simple little barn. These photos are mostly from around the area of where I live. Anytime I'm driving and happen to see a barn, I have to pull over and snap a picture.

I. Love. This. Barn. Enough said? This one is also just up the street from where we live.

For now, I am grateful that I am living my dream of living on a farm and I can still enjoy the beautiful majesty of the old barns of yesteryear.

Simple but functional.
