Baby Goats!

They finally arrived! After waiting only a mere five months as opposed to 12+ months for a baby donkey, our two mama does delivered twin kids within a week of each other. Yes, it is pretty late in the season to be having baby goats but when the breeding buck is only available at a certain time, sometimes you just have to take what you can get.

Bumble, mama number one, is a first timer and did a terrific job! Born on the 4th of July, we named the twins Betsy Ross and George. They are both black and blue eyed and later discovered both of them are polled (naturally no horns)!

Look! No horns!

Nibbles delivered a week later and had a fairly long labor. Both boys that we named Lewis and Clark but cute as a can be and they inherited their mom's waddles.

We did end up taking Lewis and Clark to the vet to be disbudded. After our last experience, I vowed to never again leave horns on a male goat. The vet gave them both anesthesia so they wouldn't feel anything and you can hardly tell that they even experienced such an ordeal.

They are now jumping all over the place and are a total delight!
